Hi. My name is Aaron and I suffer with depression.
For the last 15 years I have tried to deal with this problem with varying success. I have found that the single biggest factor in any sort of recovery has been having people that I can talk to, without judgement and without fear.
Depression and other mental illnesses can be very isolating and I know that I have found it difficult to find people that understand or can empathise with what you are going through. The thing is that as soon as I felt able to open up to people I was greeted with an avalanche of support, understanding and people that want to listen. I found that people are ready when you want to talk and that it is ok to sometimes not talk.
I wanted to start this forum as a place for people to be able to come, talk, not be judged and not to feel sorry for ourselves. But we can to use our shared experience to help each other. We all have our bad days and our good days. We all have our own stories and we can all learn from them.
Mental health issues are one of the last taboos we have in society. There are many cases recently that have begun the process of understanding. We can start the battle against it by simply talking. You may be going through it yourself and need some help. You may have someone you think may be going through it and want some advice from people who have gone through it. You may just want information. I want this to be a forum where people can exchange experiences, information and advice.
We can beat this, we just need to talk.
Lets make some noise!
